KNITTED FABRICS FOR THE PREVENTION OF PRESSURE SORES
Baltex was contacted by a manufacturer of wheelchairs. The company wanted a Spacer fabric with an impermeable membrane that would not compromise the performance of the 3d knitted fabric. With some help from the local healthcare organisation Medilink helped finance a development project. The result was a new range of Spacer fabrics with excellent pressure relieving properties that do not allow liquids to leak through the cushion. The materials are being well accepted by producers of rehablitation equipment.
COOLMAX FRESH FX SPACER FABRIC FOR LINING BODY ARMOUR VESTS
During 2008 Baltex was contacted by a producer of Body Armour vests who wanted to develop a material to maintain comfort to the wearer inspite of humid and hot conditions. In combination with the University of Bolton the company designed and produced a 3D Spacer fabric using Coolmax Fresh Fx yarns which outperformed other 3 D fabrics on the market by some considerble margin. To date nothing has outperformed this fabric 7715 and we are now working on the next generation of cooling Spacer fabrics using a highly thermally conductive yarn. |
